Emerging scientists among PHI project grant recipients

Emerging scientists are among those set to benefit from over $2.86 million in project grants awarded to Prince Henry’s Institute in the National Health and Medical Research Council’s funding announced this week.

 The Institute was awarded a total of five project grants to progress research in the areas of reproductive health and fertility, cancer, Parkinson’s disease and bone health.

Projects funded include:

  • Harrison, Robertson, McNatly, Gilchrist. Activation of GDF9 regulates human folliculogenesis. $513,675.
  • Dimitriadis, Menkhorst. Decidual-trophoblast interactions critical for optimal pregnancy outcomes. $592,245.
  • Clyne, Chand, Michell, Gorman. Novel antagonists of the nuclear receptor LRH-1. $736,461.
  • Lee, SRY: A Risk Factor for Parkinson’s disease in Men? $496,596.
  • Gillespie, Identification of novel PTH anabolic targets in osteoblasts. $528,675.

 The Institute was also allocated over $1.4 million in the Independent Research Institute Infrastructure Support Scheme, with a ranking of 7 out of 27 eligible medical research institutes.
