TM Ramsay Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Institute is offering the TM Ramsay Postdoctoral Fellowship, to begin in 2010/11 for up to 2 years, for individuals wishing to work within a research group, or independently.
Prince Henry’s Institute (PHI) is an independent, internally recognised centre for endocrine research with more than 150 scientists, physicians, students and support staff under the directorship of Professor Matthew Gillespie. PHI is a partner of the Monash Health Translation Precinct and is located at Monash Medical Centre and affiliated with Monash University and attracts postgraduate students and fellows from both medical and science faculties. There is a strong emphasis within the Institute on endocrinology, reproductive health, cancer, obesity, bone health and cardiovascular disease.

The TM Ramsay Postdoctoral Fellowship is funded by a gift from Lady Ramsay as a perpetual memorial to her late husband, Sir Thomas Ramsay, a Board Member and benefactor of the Institute.
It is intended that this Fellowship will provide a young researcher with a sound opportunity to begin a scientific career. Setup funds and bench costs are negotiable. Applicants will not normally be considered from within the Institute.

Research Assistant
Metabolism & Cancer Laboratory

We are looking for a skilled Research Assistant to help us identify mechanistic links between obesity and breast cancer in older women.
About You:
You are a highly skilled and motivated Research Assistant with the practical cell and molecular biology skills to reliably perform experiments of the highest standard. You will have completed a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences with honours or equivalent and have solid and well demonstrated skills in the following:
- Cell culture
- RT-QPCR
- Western blotting
- Cloning
- Confocal microscopy
- Immunofluorescence /Immunohistochemistry
The Position:
You will work in the Metabolism & Cancer Laboratory, under the supervision of Dr Kristy Brown. You will be joining a well established program focussed on the molecular aspects linking obesity to breast cancer. We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant to join the team. Your skills and experience combined with a capacity to understand and take direction will make you a good fit for this role.
The salary level for this appointment will be in accordance with your qualifications and experience and is expected to be in the range or $51-54K, plus superannuation and access to excellent salary packaging benefits.

Registered Nurse Division 2
Ovarian Cancer Biomarkers Laboratory

About You:
You are a highly skilled and motivated Registered Nurse Division 2 or Enrolled Nurse with a practicing certificate. You enjoy being part of a team but are also able to operate independently.
The Position:
You will work for the Ovarian Cancer Biomarkers Laboratory, under the supervision of Nicole Fairweather, the Clinical Collection Coordinator. You will assist clinicians in the collection of clinical samples as part of the research project directed to the identification of gynaecological cancers using proteomic methodologies. You will be joining a well established program of biomarker discovery and development which has identified a number of novel biomarker candidates for the diagnostic and prognostic evaluation of gynaecological cancers. Whilst the Laboratory is in Clayton, this is a new role currently based at Southern Health in Moorabbin reflecting the growth in this group and will act as a liaison between the clinic and the laboratory. You will travel using your own vehicle to associated hospitals including Mornington Peninsula, Cabrini, Freemasons and Box Hill and obviously frequently to the Laboratory in Clayton.
The salary level for this appointment will be in accordance with your qualifications and experience and the relevant award and is expected to be in the range of $41,000 to $47,000 pro rata, plus superannuation and access to excellent salary packaging benefits.
